Rosalie's a mom! Pics added (June 19)

Due to unfortunate circumstances (the accident, financial issues, ect) Rosalie ended up getting pregnant and, while I know the right thing to have done would be to do a spay/abort, I couldn't bring myself to do it So , Tuesday she gave birth to 4 kittens, the 1st (born around 1050AM), unfortunately, didn't make it, the other 3 (the last one being born around 1230PM) are doing well but had to be removed from mom due to her attacking them and being generally nasty towards them. Then, this morning, somewhere between the 4am feeding and me waking up at 630, she gave birth to 2 more kittens! Unfortunately one of these 2 didn't make it either . the 4 kittens are doing well, Rosalie is a bit more curious but still not wanting to nurse, clean or do any of her motherly duties. Well.. without further adu, here's Rosalie's babies...

Re: Rosalie's a mom!

I could never bring myself to abort either. animals or humans. Spaying is best but, i couldnt knowing id be killing. Id definately spay now though, so it doesnt happen again.

im sure youll find them all wonderful homes after some searching

(I was also just curious if the name Rosalie is from the Twilight character.... lol)

I would get so attached!!! lol. Im not sure i could ever foster for that reason... id end up keeping them all and live in a circus! lol

Re: Rosalie's a mom!

Thanks. She was actually supposed to be spayed the end of March but, like I said, so many things happened mid March that it was just horrible. Both my fault and my husbands (for letting her out after I TOLD him not to). I've already got homes for 2, MAYBE 3 lined up, and getting attached is going to be hard, especially now that I'm bottle feeding, but the owners to be of one will be PCSing to CO about the same time we will so that'll be awesome, another is a good friend of mine so we'll keep in touch for sure.

And yes, Rosalie is from Twilight, named that because when I saw her baby picture she was just TOO beautiful.. but she's apparently stuck up just like her as well, LOL!

The new little lives are so precious. It will be wonderful to be able to watch them grow.

They look sweet, I love their names and you *are* going to get very attached to them because you are hand-raising them.

Re: Rosalie's a mom!

I have awesome news! I put the leash on her (so I would be able to follow easier) and let Rosie take one of the kittens (the newest one) well she took her, came to her blanket in the bathroom and cuddled with her! I gave her the kittens (one at a time) and she laid there, let them nurse and started cleaning them! Even the one she was initially attacking! I guess the curioustiy of them was too much for her and she finally decided to be a mom! maybe she just needed to see my dog (my 6 yr old pit who was a breeder) grooming them, lol. YAY!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Rosalie's a mom!

Great news! I wonder if she behaved that way due to the pain of birth? I've only had one cat kitten in my home since the age of about 10, so I don't have much practical experience at all.

Re: Rosalie's a mom!

Thanks. I'm thinking it was something between that, the fact of 2 days in labor and possibly the fact that she's so young she was unsure of what to do with them. Either way she's been with them since I gave them to her and she hasn't left their side

Re: Rosalie's a mom!

Another day and she's doing great! She ventured away from them for a bit to go potty and stretch but she's back with them now. She's so gentle and being so patient while they're crawling all over her face and clawing at her, lol.
