I just want to kiss his sweet face in that second picture.

I actually do have a project in my craft room that is just this. My mom still has the old leather suitcase my dad left Hungary with during the revolution. He walked to Austria carrying it. She brought it for me this visit, I couldn't stand the idea of her throwing it away.

I'm trying to decide between a cat bed or a chair for up-cycling it. I'm THINKING cat bed with the lid left on (and up when the cats use it) so that when I have company I can shut the lid and use it as an extra end table.

In the mean time the cats are LOVING using it for a bed on the floor. The 60 years of smells on it fascinate them.

I love the "destinashun Hawaii"!! Very cute.

That suitcase has a lot of history and significance to it! Maybe it's the perfect cat bed -- kitties getting comfort from the same thing your Dad got comfort from.

Very cool! If I had one, I'd give it a try. Might have to think about that during some of my wife and I's antique store browsing. It's gitchy, and unique.

That is a wonderful idea! I have several suitcases in the basement that the kids have already scratched, so might as well give them up completely.
