Aw, he's probably thinking "do you have to be there with the camera *now*?" My aunt has trained her kitty to use the toilet, and now I have a friend who's doing the same. Did it take you long?

It took about 3 months, maybe a little more. Booger is 9 years old, though. The training would probably be much easier on a younger kitty.

in the bathroom so I just moved it right next to the toilet on the first day. Then I used textbooks from college to start raising the little box up every few days. Once it was even with the toilet I moved the box over the toilet for a few days. Then I remove the box entirely and just had litter in the bowl. After about a week I made a quarter sized hole in the bottom of the salad bowl with a razor. Every few days I just made the hole bigger with the razor. Once the hole was so big that he was basically using the toilet already I started to reduce the amount of litter that I'd put on the edges of the bowl each day. This step took a long time. I reduced the litter slowly. Once he was down to virtually no litter I just let him use it that way for a few days. Then I removed the bowl and watched him very closely. He used the toilet properly and I rewarded him with a treat and continue to do so.

Oh, and I cheated a bit with help from my father. He gave me this device that alerted me when Booger entered the bathroom so that I could go observe him and make sure he was doing it right.

Okay, stupid question but can you teach them to flush? I just wonder if it is possible or if it would scare them... I am going to look into doing this with my boys... I hate litterboxes!

You can teach them, but it's a very bad idea because they will flush all the time just to watch the water drain. I've heard horror stories of cats flushing over and over for hours on end.
