Two foster kittens returned to shelter but given a new forever home!

Two of my foster kittens, Ruff and Reddy were returned to the shelter last night for being "too rambunctious".

I took these feral boys in at 1 month old in late October and spent a month battling ringworm and socializing them. They are so dear to my heart! They went home on Christmas Eve at about 11 weeks old, to what I thought was going to be their forever home. Less than 2 months later they are back and that broke my heart.

Those of you that follow my posts know that last week we had to put our 14 month old boy down due to juvenial lymphoma. He was sick for days and the vet declared it terminal only 5 days after he became lethargic. We made the decision to end his suffering with a heavy heart but it's Polly that has missed him the most it seems. She cries for someone to play with and we toyed with the idea of adopting another friend for her. She deserves the companionship of a feline playmate and in come Ruff and Reddy.

Husband and I made the joint decision (without advance discussion!) of adopting my two foster boys, now about 4 1/2 months old and will be picking them up in a few hours! They adored me and Polly and I know it will be a great fit! My quiet home is about to get "ping off the walls" crazy but I know Bubbe is smiling from heaven with this decision!!

This is Ruff and Reddy in one of my very favorite pics!

And this is Bubbe just a couple days before he got sick. He was uncharactistically snuggly and sweet this particular morning on my lap. In hindsight I feel he was saying goodbye.

So sad hear of them being returned - I remember feeling happy they had found a home at the end of your previous tale.

What does "too rambunctious" mean in terms of kittens? If they werent crazy and full of energy something would be wrong =)

When I decided to get a kitten, it was in the full knowledge that I may end up with damaged furniture, curtains, mess everywhere. When Abigail does something I dont approve of, I cant get angry with her, since she is just being a kitten.

At least now R&R will have their forever home!

They are two adorable little kitties, and are very lucky to have found you a second time.

Omg....didn't these people know kittens are as rambunctious and naughty as anything? That's what you sign up for when you adopt. Amelia would never have found a home if she couldn't be rambunctious!

Anyway....my heart is smiling for you that you will have two new fur balls to love in Bubbe's memory. That's how I always look at my new pet after a loss....an opportunity to love deeply in the memory of a special friend.

I'm glad you've got them back. At least you knew they'd been returned and were available. They're so cute it's hard to imagine giving them up!

I mean, how smart do you have to be to know that kittens and puppies are gong to be a lot of work for a good long while? Crazy wild! All over the place! Chewing, clawing, jumping, running! What are people thinking?

I don't know about people sometimes. Sorry they were returned, but happy to know they will stay with you. My daughter adopted two of my foster babies from my last batch when she came to visit in August. She was moving back here and asked me to keep them for her until she made the move. Those babies are the most rambunctious, energetic kittens I have ever taken care of. I loved it. They just moved in with my daughter and missed them everyday. Good thing is I get to visit! I am glad Ruff and Ready are in a place where their playful and energy will be appreciated.

They DO look ruff and reddy! It's heartbreaking that they were returned, but it's better this way! These 2 will go to someone, who, like me, likes rambunctious cats!

I'm sure they've grown a little since the pic was taken. Just keep thinking 'I love 'rambunctious!'

Do people return babies because they're too rambunctious? No. So why returns kittens when they are just being kittens. I'm glad you are able to keep them and give them a loving home. They are super adorable even with their little trouble making faces my two kittens are trouble makers too and I don't mind chasing them around the house playing hide and seek.

So sorry about the passing of your kitten, his little face looks so Angelic. Sending you lots of hugs.

Bubbe reminds me of my Diego, I love black cats and find them majestic. I hope the little guy is resting in peace with all the other loved kittens.

Don't you guys know? Kittens are supposed to be quiet, still, and adorable.

You know, like in kitten food commercials, they'll play with a bit of yarn for a few minutes, will quietly eat a few pieces of kibble, and then they curl up and go to sleep.

Clearly, THAT'S how kittens are SUPPOSED to act! XD

OH YES! They seem HUGE to me know - only 7 weeks later! They are just a tad shy and unsure but seem to remember me and certainly remember the foster room - it has not changed that much at all. Polly is overjoyed to have friends again to play with and even my one lone foster baby Clare is happy to have playmates now that her brothers are adopted and gone.
