Coat colors?

I was curious what color you all would consider our mama cat (who still needs an actual name..!) She's definitely torbie of some kind, but not as dark. Her colors are more faded, but not in the same way as a dilute tortie. (Dilute has blue where there is normally black... mama has gray tabby.) And the red color is faded too, almost like a cream or peach kind of color. The closest I could find is maybe a chocolate torbie? I'm just curious because I haven't seen a cat quite this color before. The other torbies around are much darker.

IMO she's definitely a torbie... she looks a little light on the body for chocolate; maybe lilac?

Yes, I'd call her a torbie. My Amelia is a darker torbie but my mom has a light colored torbie.

I wouldn't say either chocolate or lilac - as both are different dilutions. This girl isn't dilute.

I think it's just the way her pattern is, and she's standard torbie. Some tabby cats have fainter markings, or darker markings, etc. Here's some example pics of the 'spots' being dominant:

And here's some lightly spotted tabbies:

Muffin have almost no spots on his torso - but he's not a dilute red either: (Muffin in the middle of Jitzu and Torri - once in a life time shot. No one is fussing, fighting, or bossing anyone else, lol.)

I think your girl has a pattern something like Muffins', she's not dilute, she just has fewer spots so her 'base color' is more prominent. Any the torti makes it much harder to tell when combined with her tabby pattern, lol.

Although "dilute torbie" isn't an official classification, we still use it a lot . I would call her a blue torbie.

Interesting colour with the tabby pattern and tortie (tortoiseshell). I say she 's either ...
Blue patched tabby & white (her right hind foot counts as it is white)
Blue torbie & white
Blue-silver torbie & white

Difficult to determine because in the first pic, the patching looks dilute (cream) and base coat grey rather than brown to me. I'm leaning toward Blue-silver torbie & white because of the darker color of the barring on her legs. Silver gene can influence a greenish eye color, rather than gold. Hmmm, interesting

Thanks! This has been really interesting. I know some about coat colors, but not much. I always like to know what different colors and patterns are called. That's why hers was interesting to me... it's a little different than other torbies I've seen. Even kittens from other litters of hers are darker. None of them really look like her.

You're right, she does have cream, and a gray color that doesn't quite look blue or silver which is weird? It's more the color of a typical gray tabby. But, no white on her actually.. it's just bad lighting. Her back foot is cream like her belly.

Not a clue about coat colors, but she is gorgeous! Does she have a name yet?
