Our new little girl, Vixen

My heart still grieves for Katerina, nothing can change that. But we saw some kittens at a local PETCO and just had to look at them. (Locally, our Humane Society places cats and kittens at PETCOs.) We saw three little girls who were gaily playing with each other. One had just been purchased, leaving two littles. The first one they let us hold, clearly didn't want to be held and had no interest in us. But the second one, she came out purring so loudly and then she moved up to my hubby's chin and began chewing on his beard... She had him at purr and me at the chin play. Needless to say, she had to come home with us. Love at first sight. Vixen is a little torti tabby with a little pointed face and the markings make her look like a little fox. She had already been spayed and had her first two shots. Our vet said she needs to put on a little weight, but is otherwise very healthy. He gave her her third shot.

It took about a week for her to win Ivan over, but she did that. Now they chase and play together. And things are peaceful. Here are two pictures.

Very sweet...."Foxy Lady" yes for sure.....Love her coloring, so warm and soft looking.
Always best when kitten chooses its owner. Lucky you and your hubby.

Yes, she has us well trained already. LOL Already, she knows how to ask me to get her dry food down for her. Vixen walks up to me and meows. I pick her up and get her the dry food. I have to keep it separate from Ivan, cause it gives him diarrhea... Will be weaning her off of it entirely in a couple of months and on to all wet food. My hubby laughs at me when I tell him I know what she wants. But it is true just the same...

Vixen is quite smart and quite the charmer.

What a gorgeous baby.~ I always love seeing kitties with "unique" colors/patterns. (I'm one of those people that grew up with nothing but tabbies, tuxedos, black cats, and little kitty moo cows. lol. Not that I'm complaining!)

I, too, love seeing it when kitties choose their owners. (: It forms some of the closest bonds out there, IMO.

@amy22, yes, Vixen is a (according to the Humane Society) torti tabby. I think it is the tabby markings on her face that enhance her little foxie face. She continues to train me well. As my hubby says, I am not the alpha cat.... I'm just Vixie's staff... LOL

Yes, she definitely chose us, but I had seen her picture and was already disposed to like her. But, her reaction to us just totally sold us. It is the much the same thing that happened with our Ivan. I took one look into his eyes and the soul connection was instantaneous and overwhelming. I have that same feeling with Vixen. When you are linked like that, it is amazing.
