Meet the newest member of Chez Marcia's!

Bree was going to be surrendered to the shelter when I met the woman at the shelter front door. Bree was her momma' cat, but she passed away 6 months ago and the woman could not keep her. She told me Bree was sweet and loving. I decided to adopt her right there and then. I have always wanted a pug faced Persian or Himmy. Bree has been with us for 3 days now. She is rattled by the other cats here, but only hisses when she sees them. I heard that Himmys are fiercely loyal so am not surprised she is snubbing me. My question is for any Himmy owners out there. What should I expect from this breed regarding how long it takes for her to settle in? Bree is 10 years old.

oh you wonderful human you, Marcia! I love the seniors. my angel was 10 1/2 when I adopted her and i'm always happy to hear of other seniors who get to live their golden years in a loving home.
I've never had a Himmy myself, but I'll just bet Bree will eventually be inseparable from you in time. There's always a little something unique when have to work harder or longer for their affection I think. I see a wonderful future ahead of you with Bree. Good luck and enjoy the ride!

I don't know anything about breeds, but I know you'll work your magic with Bree soon enough! What would senior kitties at shelters do without people like you?!

I always have to smile when I see a pug-faced kitty. They always look grumpy even though you know they're not. She's soooo fluffy!

Bree has settled in - well sorta. She still hisses or growls when anyone gets too close but for the most part the rest of my adult cats are so used to the revolving door of foster cats and kittens that they don't seem to be too concerned about her at all. She is much more troubled with them but she is learning that no one means her any harm even cranky Coco! She is just so stinkin cute! I love having her here. This takes me up to 7 which I SWORE I would never do, but I just could not pass her up.

She's pretty! Glad she's settling in. Are you thinking of keeping her?

Marcia, Thanks for taking in this senior cat....she's beautiful! She is already looking at you with trusting eyes, soon she will be a lovebug and following you about, I bet!
