FREE Graphics program found for download...

I really hope Megan comes along soon to see this and show her Mom.
And everyone else who would like to have a free taste of what these graphics
programs are all about. This is not a trial version. Completely FREE.
I downloaded this myself and have been playing with it all morning.
You can work with layers and has several effects and masks to choose from. It needs more brushes....(gives me something to work on) maybe I can figure out how to make a few.

It is VERY similar to Paint Shop, with fewer bells and whistles,
but plenty of good stuff to give you an idea of what this is like to learn.
I know there are a few of us around here who are familiar with Paint Shop and can help coach newbies on how to use this program.

OK OK Megan.....here is what we need to do!

Since I talked to you lastnight...Found out that you have Paint Shop version 4.15....and we learned that it does not support layers.
Now you need to get this Photo Plus 6.
I can help you step by step, because I also have it on my pc.
It is a good thing that it is a little more basic,
this way you can learn how to use layers and not get overwhelmed
with all the extra's
Hope your Dad can fix your phone line soon.
Or maybe we can try a file transfer through MSN messenger.
Maybe that will transfer a little faster???
ttyl Dawn

paint.net is really good. Free and a bit easier than photoshop. http://www.getpaint.net/redirect/wp/index.html

Yes Paint.net is pretty cool.
I found that one too and posted a while back.
I did have a very difficult time installing the correct net framework needed to run the program. Because different systems have different frameworks???

Also you have to have Win XP or Vista.

I''ve been using Paint.NET and I'm really impressed by it. The more I use it, the more I like it. It has a few weak points, and is missing a few tools, but these are being addressed by plug-ins, and it's continually under development anyway, as an open-source project. It's especially good with and easy to use layers, and also it does a good job with transparencies and with gif formats -- none of that chunkiness that you usually get with limited bit-depth formats.
