Offering Help For Those Who Want To Learn Graphics Programs!

I remember seeing some posts from members that say they would love to enter, but have no clue on how to use graphics programs. Well...anyone who needs help, I am glad to help! It seems that our regular enterers have gotten busy and stuff...and these contests are fun, so why don't the newbies give it a shot? Others who are willing to help...feel free to post in this thread. I have AIM, Yahoo! and can also Private Message, of course.

I am familiar with:

Photoshop
Paint Shop Pro
MS Paint

Re: Offering Help For Those Who Want To Learn Graphics Programs!

I would LOVE to learn a graphics program and would be very grateful for any help. I guess first things first - which program would be the best to get?

Re: Offering Help For Those Who Want To Learn Graphics Programs!

Well, I would say it depends on what you would like to do??...Print, Web, or more difficult things? If your new at the whole or deal, I wouldn't get too complicated in learning a program like Adobe. There are more simple programs were said "Paint Shop Pro and MS Print" as Megan said.

Let me know what your interested in designing? I have a degree in Graphic Communications with some Marketing.

In Illustrator (vector program-smooth connecting lines), you have to Master the Pen Tool. This is number one in this program! It takes practice to get the hang of it and after you master it, you can do anything! This program is perfect for making text and logos.
Example:

In Photoshop (raster program-using pixels and more close up),There are many tools and adds in this program and I am not a master at this but I am able to use and make projects with this program. When you take a photo and you zoom in you can see each and every pixel or square has a color.
Example:

I hope this helps ! I forgot to mention that both these programs are very expen$ive and it's best to buy them in a suite with numerous other programs together. For a somewhat cheaper deal, buy them off of Creative Engine http://www.creationengine.com/ for a discount as a student or a faculty.

Megan,

What a very nice thread for you to start! You are very kind!

I have Photoshop Elements 6, though I'm not real good at it yet, I know enough to do simple edits, cropping, cutting and pasting, the basics about layers, and removing objects from pictures. I'd be more than happy to help where I can also.

Re: Offering Help For Those Who Want To Learn Graphics Programs!

As of yesterday, my husband and I were looking at random magazines and saw the program "Gimp". I never heard of it until then, just Adobe and a few others.
