Good bad news

Little Momma, the mother-puppy that we've been socializing, has a microchip. She has been missing since her family took a trip to Mammoth Cave National Park in November. Their little boy got out of the car to look at a deer lounging outside the cabins at Park headquarters, and left the car door open. They took some pictures and went back, and she was gone.

They stayed in contact with the shelters in Warren and Barren counties until January, then apparently gave up. They only live about 250 miles away, and they are coming to get her this weekend, so she stayed at the shelter to wait for her family.

Thats two cute microchipped doggies that have wandered in. I'm glad she's going home, but she is sooooo cute

That is wonderful bad news! Just about the best kind of bad news someone could get.
I'm happy she is able to go home to her family. So many pets don't get that chance.

That is wonderful news.......but I can tell you are sad. Good that she is going home though, it sounds like the little boy missed his dog dearly, and is going to be very happy to have her home!

It's touching to think that the family will get their dog back. Now I think the little girl needs a pet. And perhaps the Jellicles could screen some shelter dogs for them.

Thats what I just signed on to announce. While they were at the shelter, little Renee wandered around the kennels a bit.

Before they left, they filled out an application to adopt Sprite. They'll have the answer tomorrow.

EDIT TO ADD: Sprite's petfinder listing is now unlisted. YAYY, they were approved

That's great news! Mama (by the way did you ever find out what her real name was?) finally gets to be back with her family and your neighbors are giving another dog a second chance!

I was wondering if she had a chip but kept second guessing myself even after posting the idea of maybe she had one. Guess I shouldn't second guess so much lol.

Sprite looks adorable and a tad like Mama lol.

How bittersweet for all of you Mike. Momma was lucky to have found your little neighborhood.

Sprite sounds like the perfect little dog for the girl next door.

Good story

But "only" 250 miles? That's a long way surely?

How great that the family gets their dog back! I know it'll be hard to see her go, but absolutely great for the family. It's nice to know they tried to find her as hard as they did. And Sprite gets a new home! Yay, win/win!
