Brave Hamster

The other night a big bug had came in through our back door we left open for the kitties (to our screened in porch). Of course the cats found him and tried to attack him. He ended up getting away and that is the worst, when you know something is crawling around and you dont know where!!!

Anyways, a little later we were watching TV and saw the kitties all run at the same time over to their food bowls. I thought "Yay they found the bug!"

I went over to check it out and could not believe what I saw.

My hamster Pheobe who is constantly trying to escape but never has before IN THE CAT FOOD BOWL eating their food!!!!! She was not phased at all by the cats. In fact, my cats were kinda scared of her! So glad this did not happen in the middle of the night or something.... she picked the worst place to go!! I told my boyfriend she must have a death wish!

I was able to get this picture real quick before putting her back in her cage. I fed her and let her have a few pieces of cat food, I guess she was hungry!!

That picture should be worth something commercially. It's adorable! Very brave hamster. Very confused kitties!

What are you going to do to ensure she doesn't get away again?

Oh that is so adoreable!!!!!

Have you ever thought of introducing your hamster to your cats? Who knows, they could become friends.

Sincerely, Krystle.

haha, I love the LOLs Heidi and Willow - Thanks!!

I think it was my mistake that she got out. I had cleaned out the cage that morning and I must not have put the lid back on exactly right. I position every thing in both my hamster's cages to prevent them getting out. But no matter what they can climb their water bottles. Every hamster I have ever owned has got out at least once.

I have let my hamsters run around in the same room as the cats before and the cats don't know what to think. They don't try to attack them and the hamsters don't care at all. It's only ever been for a very short, supervised period of time, usually while changing their cages. We also have one of those balls we put them in and let them run all over. The cats are not as interested as you'd think. Only when they actually SEE the hamsters. I know guinea pigs often get along with cats but I am afraid for my hamsters since they are so small...
