Crazy Weather

It's sunny at the front of the house but out back it's a black/dark grey sky and thundering with some sprinkles of rain. What in the world is with the weather lately?

I don't know, it is crazy! Up until this weekend, we had days that were warm and in the 70's, and the next was in the 50's! Some nights it's been down in the low 30's with frost in some areas farther north from us!

Yes, the weather is all over the place, strange and disturbing. So many peoples' lives destroyed in all the recent tornadoes.

And I have to say that the frequent earthquake news is getting me unsettled too - China, Iceland, and now the Philippines... I can't help but wonder if it isn't all related, but how?

China is part of "The Ring of Fire." It includes the west coast of the US.

Here is some information about the three major earthquake areas. The plates in these zones must be moving.

Do you think earthquakes can be related to the weather, a symptom of warming?

On the surface, I would say 'no way', but there is so much evidence that the whole living planet behaves like an interconnected system that I wonder whether a factor such as increased atmospheric carbon or changes in ocean chemistry would impact the movement of tectonic plates...Of course, there's possibility of a shift in the earth's magnetic poles -- that would certainly affect plate movement. I just don't know...

My dad was at a client's house (he sells insurance) one time and it was sunny in the front of the house and pouring down rain in the back yard. He was really freaked out about it.

As for weather here, we've been pretty constant, though yesterday was odd because it was sunny, then pouring down rain, then sunny, then thunder and lightning, then sunny, then cloudy, ... But today has been quite pleasant.

You made a good point, Fran. I just don't know. I do know we'd better stop destroying our planet, though. Whether it's all related, I don't know.
