Another happy sad ending

Well, I went to the corner market to put up "found dog" fliers for Hercules, the lil' Cattle Dog that turned up at the house https://www.catforum.com/viewtopic.php?t=51223 and found when I got there that his poster was already up....as "lost dog". So, I called the number, and when the young man drove up, there was no mistaking it. Hercules (actually named Smokie) dashed out to the truck and alternated between bouncing into the air and wiggling on the ground

So, he got one more treat and a scritch, then he hopped up into the truck and went home.

The dog house is empty again

Awww, MIke! So sorry but just think of how happy Smokie's owner is! This just means there is another pup out there for you if you truly have dog fever.

Well best wishes to Hercules/Smokie. (I like Hercules much better). He certainly is a handsome dog, and I'm glad the story has a happy ending.

Mike, I think it's time you went to an Animal Rescue. You have helped two people already ---- but not yourself. How happy the owners must be to have their pup back!

What joy you have brought that young man in reuniting him with his dog. Good for you Mike!

You must have a sign on your fence that says "Wonderful man lives here, he will help you".

I agree with Jeanie. It's time for you to find a dog that can stay with you and the Jellicles.

Awwww, Mike. Such a bittersweet moment for you. I'm glad you got to spend some time with Smokie/Hercules, though, and see the excitement in him once his owner was back. That must have been wonderful!

I agree with Jeanie also on satisfying your dog fever! You must really want one.

You need one. Listen to Jeanie.

But how AMAZING "Smokie" must feel to be back with his family - and his FAMILY must be beside themselves with gratitude to you!

You've got such a great heart, Mike! Those animals in your community are very lucky to have you living there. Way to go!

I'd listen to Jeanie if I were you!

Bittersweet is a good word for it. Did the young man tell you how he got lost? It must make you feel so good to do this for the dogs and the families. How fortunate.
