Our FOUR New Horses

We decided to get into horses for trail riding, since there are so many trails near our house. So we got one horse (Sierra). Then we figured one wasn't enough for seven people, so we got another one (Angel).

Angel's full name is El Bay Angelique, she's a purebred Arabian mare. Sierra is an Arabian/Quarter Horse mare.

Here's some pictures...

She is very pretty. I rode an Arab when I was a teenager, this horse was the most smooth trotting horse I'd ever ridden. He was like riding a cloud, he just floated along in a trot or rocked you almost to sleep in his canter. Arabs are wonderful horses.

Currently, I have a small, gaited Paso Fino. She is tiny only about 13.3 hands, which is 55" tall. I needed a smaller, narrower and gaited horse when I began shopping to ride again, so I chose her.

Oh, and I just LOVE the blood bay coloring. It is my absolute favorite! She is also very flashy with all her 'chrome' (white markings). How old are Angel and Sierra?
*Oh, wanted to add...the QH/Arab cross are making great strides as athletic show horses in the last few years.

Trail riding, mostly. We haven't really considered any show business or anything, even though Angel is registered. They're pretty green broke, though, so we've been having to train them using Clinton Anderson's videos. It will be a while before we finally get to do any serious endurance riding.

Yes, Angel does indeed have an extremely smooth trot. I haven't been on her yet, because she's got a problem with spooking, but I've been on Sierra and watched my sister ride Angel. All of her gaits are so smooth.

Sierra is seven years old, and Angel is twelve.

7 and 12 are good ages. They are just begining to get into their prime years and can still learn new things. You should have many years of enjoyment from them.

My friend in California (she breeds foundation-bred QHs) has attended several Clinton Anderson clinic-things. Even met him and had her photo taken with him. I get the impression she thinks he is like a Rock Star, she gets all giggle-y when she tells me about him. And she's 40!

I love horses! They're so majestic. I hope you don't mind a little envy!
