Now, there's something you don't see every day!

Snow in the French Quarter! Oh my! Who would have thought?

That's really surprising! And what really struck me is that the residents didn't recognize it until it stuck to the ground! I'll bet the kids were really happy.

I thought about you when I read this headline earlier. I just now clicked the article to read it. Living up here in ND I find it hilarious that schools, government offices and the like actually shut down for stuff like this. You should all come up to my neck of the woods!

Re: Now, there's something you don't see every day!

What really is bad when the snow sticks is many people in the southern states put summer only tires on their cars for better grip and handling. But when such performance tires drive through snow, they have hardly any traction at all. As such, a little Smart or Geo Metro will blow the doors off a Corvette in an inch of snow because the Corvette's tires cannot get any snow traction.

Re: Now, there's something you don't see every day!

It snows so rarely in New Orleans that no one there knows how to deal with it.

The last time it snowed like that in New Orleans was in 1963, when I was a little bitty four year old kid.
And I don't think there was as much accumulation, back then, as yesterday's snow. I remember my parents took my brother and I to City Park to build our first snowmen, because there wasn't enough snow on the ground in our neighborhood to do anything.

I am keeping fingers crossed that there will be enough snow here in Guntersville for Arianwen and I to play in.

Wow, Snow in New Oleans ...that is not something you see ...

We have a major storm working its way here today/tonight .. they are talking anywhere from a trace to 8" of snow in the Seattle/Tacoma area... and lows in the teens by Monday.

I'm just really glad I'm not allowed to drive !! LOL These people don't know how to drive in rain let alone snow !!
