Busy (and crazy) few days away from forum...
To start, Christmas Eve was good and then Ken "misplaced" one of Emma's presents, ALL the furniture to the dollhouse we were giving her. He looked in a few places for it but didn't see anything, just dropped the issue like a bad habit and went to help Nate do something. I was livid, partly because of the way he just didn't seem to care and partly because I couldn't physically get up and search some places I thought the furniture might be. I had a few discretionary "words" with him (not cussing in front of the kids) and my Dad actually stepped in and told me to knock it off, proceeding to try to tell me how to act in my marriage. By this point I was fuming because my parents have been divorced for about 10 years now and, trust me, I have tons of memories from my childhood of my Dad talking down to my Mom, etc.
So, anyway, with Dad being the way he is there is absolutely no point in arguing with him so I just went off and cleaned the kitchen and picked up a few things around the house, all the meanwhile with tears in my eyes.
When the family and I finally had the house to ourselves I had it out with Ken about checking in a couple other places and he found the furniture we were looking for. This is all well and good but I was still fuming that at least 2 hours had gone by with Emma receiving a dollhouse and not having any furniture or dolls to put in it. At that moment, I decided I was going to play with Emma until she just couldn't stay awake anymore. It was Christmas Eve, not like we had to be anywhere early the next day.
Then Christmas morning came; time to open gifts from Santa. The whole family received an air hockey table from him and, boy, was that ever a hit. I think we've all played at least 20 games a piece on it in the last few days!
The people that were supposed to be coming up here from out of town decided at the last minute not to come because they had colds, so it was a quiet Christmas Day.
I was really tickled with a couple of things I got for Christmas; a 1000-piece puzzle in the shape of the USA, each state represented by chunks of license plates over the years. I also got a few of those mosaic-like coloring books and markers. Lastly, I got a crystal nativity set that I absolutely love!
Ken and I have sort of resolved the issues we had on Christmas Eve. So far I have approximately 100 pieces of the puzzle put together and am in the middle of coloring my third page of those coloring books. The last couple of days have been pretty relaxing.
