Dressage?

Someone sent this to me and I thought surely I'm not going to watch something about horses that's six and a half minutes long, not with my short attention span.

I've never seen any type of horse competition in my life. I had no idea they could even do this! Amazing!!

Re: Dressage?

That mare is WONDERFUL!
Her name is Bleu Hors Matine, and she LOVES her job.
The competition of dressage is to 'dance with your horse' and make it look effortless, with super-subtle cues asking the horse to perform the various moves. Very reminiscent (effortless) of how the Vienna Riding School performs with their Lippizaner Stallions.

If you liked the one above:

Stacy Westfall. Freestyle Reining. Bareback. Bridle-less.
...Action really doesn't start until about 1:00min into the video.

Re: Dressage?

Okay, on the second video you posted, clearly, clearly I was expecting a horse. My laughter when the video began startled poor Cinderella. I've never watched any dog competitions, either, and had no idea that was even done.

Re: Dressage?

Dressage is elegant and I always love to watch it. I had the pleasure of seeing the Lippizaner Stallions one evening and I don't think I moved the entire night. I was mesmerized!!

Re: Dressage?

Ok, seriously, that brought tears to my eyes, and I've seen that before! For anyone who knows animals, you know just how much training went into that routine. Not only that, but the level of athleticism, ability, love, and skill that horse must have, along with an unbelievable bond and trust for the rider. Simply amazing!
