BREAKING NEWS: US Airways jet crashes into Hudson River

Just noticed this headline. I haven't even taken the time to read it yet myself.

They said everyone made it out safely. It was said that the jet hit a big flock of birds.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: US Airways jet crashes into Hudson River

I've been glued to MSNBC for the past hour watching this while on the Forum. I think everyone got off safely. I'm terrified of flying and this story took my breath away. Plus, I can't swim.

Birds brought the plane down - geese, I believe.

Re: BREAKING NEWS: US Airways jet crashes into Hudson River

Well, I'm glad to hear everyone is safe. After I posted this and went back to the article to read it I noticed the picture at the bottom left of the article that showed the partially submerged plane with people being rescued. I kind of took it from that picture that things were going to be okay.

The pilot did an AMAZING job landing that plane on water, no submerging!

The first thing I thought of was that terrible crash in Washington years ago, where the plane crashed into the Potomac (spelling).

Great to see everyone got out ok from this one.

That was my first thought, too, Hugh.

I didn't remember hearing about that crash so I searched for "plane crash into Potomac." Turns out I was only 5 years old at the time. That happened on January 13, 1982, almost 27 years ago to the day. Eerie!

Thankfully, it doesn't seem that this crash has any major injuries even.

My hair is standin gon end reading everyone's replies. The Potomac crash is the first one my husband and I thought of, too. So very happy that everyone survived this crash. The pilot did an amazing job bringing the aircraft down gently and in one piece.

The pilot played a part in what we could almost call a miracle! He showed amazing skill. It's as if Someone was guiding his hands.
