Oven pilot out

This morning,I lit my STOVE pilots,THEN I started smelling gas. Well, the oven pilot's out,I've turned off the gas to the oven, and I'm venting the place. I'm very leery about relighting the oven pilot-I don't want to go near the thing! Am I being paranoid,or should I call maintenance before turning on the gas again?

Re: Oven pilot out

By all means, call maintenance if you are the least bit unsure about working with natural gas. I generally would wait 1 to 2 hours myself under the same conditions you described. But that is me. Gas is not something to mess with if you have the slightest bit of uncertainty.

Re: Oven pilot out

If you have a maintenance person to call, by all means, do so!
Gas is not to be messed with if you're unsure at all.

Re: Oven pilot out

I can work on live 480 volts but to light my pilot on the water heater or stove makes cringe! Call the maintenance man/person.

The more people I meet the more I love my cat!
