Re: Why do I keep getting head colds?

I've had one since January 23rd!!! I'm open to suggestions, too! I think we're just passing the same cold around at work.

Re: Why do I keep getting head colds?

Thats half the problem isn't it. People stumbling into work with head colds when they really ought to be tucked up in bed. Not only does it make your recovery slower, you spread your germs to everyone else. And, yes, I'm most definitely guilty as charged on that score!

Not this time though ... this is a particularly nasty beastie so staying at home with my little ginger and white nursemaid.

Re: Why do I keep getting head colds?

Oh poor you - I hate having colds.

Have managed to avoid getting any this year (touch wood!) but no idea how I'm afraid - especially since I work in an open plan air-conditioned office and the guy who sits next to me has had a nasty cold for the past month

I have a berocca everyday so maybe that has something to do with it??

Hope you're feeling better soon

Re: Why do I keep getting head colds?

If you sincerely want to get less colds, eat oranges daily (or strawberries, they're higher in VitC), and take fish oils daily. We started to do this, and changed nothing else, and I hardly get sick anymore (and if I do, it's a scratchy throat for a few days)! It's wonderful, as I used to get quite sick, quite often.

I take an extra vit C daily, and I also take a daily probiotic. I haven't had a cold in.........well, knock on wood, it's been years! Even when Dave had a cold recently, I didn't get sick.

Feel better Allie!

Seriously? What's the name of the probiotic you take? I guess I've just been blessed with a good immune system because I rarely get colds when they're going around and around the house all year with 2 small kids. However, when I do get hit with a cold it's terrible!

Allie, if you keep having recurrences of colds, have you thought of the possibility that it might be a sinus infection or something that needs antibiotics? Just wanted to throw that out there as something to consider.

Re: Why do I keep getting head colds?

I think one of the major things against you, Allie, is that you do a lot of traveling on public transportation. Sick people in enclosed spaces, grubby hands on railings or seat backs etc.

Re: Why do I keep getting head colds?

You are absolutely right Lisa ... public transport is a hot bed for germs. One of the reasons I've been biking to work, although I haven't done that recently due to the poor weather.

That berocca stuff looks interesting ... I will pick some up this weekend. And I fear my diet needs a overhaul. I tend to forget to eat when I'm at work so will often find I'm only eating in the evening ... healthy stuff but probably not enough of it ... every now and then I try to make a bigger effort to eat properly but within a couple of days I'm back to square one again ....

Re: Why do I keep getting head colds?

I take:

Advan C in the morning
http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Advan-C-wit ... flavonoids

Probiotic 15-35 with meals... in addition to eating yogurt daily
http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Probiotic-15-35

Primal Defense prior to breakfast
http://www.vitacost.com/Garden-of-Life- ... nse-Powder

Omega 3-6-9 with meals
http://www.vitacost.com/NSI-Omega-3-6-9 ... -Oil-Blend

and Vitamin B12 if you are vegetarian!

Now that I take these I am better than years ago when I wasn't taking them... but the viruses are becoming stronger and stronger.... They are basically evolving to smarter beings... and eventually one day, billion years from now, these same viruses will evolve to be the next humans.
