Other things to do with tuna beside tuna noodle casserole?

On Saturdays I typically make a hotdish-type meal and make enough so that I can freeze a meal or two for later when weekdays is busier.

My family and I all love tuna noodle casserole but I'm kind of looking for ideas for other things with tuna, if there are any. That and tuna sandwiches are really the only things I've done with tuna before.

Anyone have any tried-n-true recipes for something else?

I hope you can forgive the side track,
but you really should eat less tuna.
just google around for the health info.

*canned salmon is a lot healthier, and
much more versatile, as you can use it
in a wider range of flavors and textures.

*canned salmon is NEVER farmed,
while Raw salmon most often will be.

Tuna isn't that bad for you in moderation. It's alot easier to get kids to eat tuna then it is salmon. Salmon has a really strong taste.

I won't touch salmon with a 10-foot pole. I've tried it once but never again. Knowing now what it tastes like, I doubt the kids would even try it.

My whole family loves tuna and I'm well aware of the risks of too much of it, especially in chlidren. I've even talked to their pediatrician who says there's nothing wrong with it in moderation. It's not like we eat it all the time; probably once a month.

Heck, I can remember how as a kid every other Friday in school we had tuna salad sandwiches and/or egg salad sandwiches to comply with the "no-meat" Friday thing.

As a kid, my mom used to make tuna patties (same thing as salmon patties but with tuna fish). She mixed tuna with egg and cracker crumbs then fried them. Very yummy! I'm sorry I don't know amounts of the ingredients but I remember her adding enough of each so it would form a nice pattie that wouldn't fall apart.

My mother makes Salmon Patties. Using canned salmon they're not anything like actually eating a salmon steak. The only fish I eat is canned salmon or tuna (other than shellfish), won't touch fresh fish...too strong for me and I don't like the texture. Anyway, mom never measures anything when she makes the Salmon Patties, I know there's egg, bread crumbs and onions, salt & pepper. Then she pan fries in olive oil.

But here's tons of tuna recipes, you can probably find a gazillion variations of tuna casserole here.

Feed it to the cats? But not too often. I'm told it's like kitty crack.

Sorry, that was my first thought when I read the subject. I like fish but for some reason never got into canned tuna. Then again, I haven't had it since I was small, so perhaps I should give it another try. How much does it taste like non-canned tuna? I guess I could get a can and dispense it as kitty crack if I don't like it.

A good tuna salad can be made using raspberry vinaigrette salad dressing, a whole red onion, chopped, and a little bit of finely chopped celery.
Soup and tuna salad sandwiches make a good, light, lunch.
Here's a tuna salad, from RecipeSource.com You can easily scale the recipe up. Also, you can substitute mayo or Miracle Whip for the yogurt.

Canned tuna? Yuk. Can't stand it.

I used to tease someone at work about their 'cat food and mayonaisse' sandwiches.

funny you say that.
growing up my folks made tuna salad often.

as soon as I was living independently
I unconsciously stopped buying the stuff.

I guess I never liked it,
but growing up with 6 siblings,
my folks had little tolerance
for picky children...

Raw tuna is OK in Sushi,
but even there, I prefer
raw salmon & avocado
over any tuna pieces.
