I wonder if any of the people on Catforum who are interested in the economic crisis heard the Saturday program Bad Banks on This American Life with Ira Glass? He explained what the government is trying to do to jump start the economy to prevent us going into a depression worse than the 1930s. It finally made sense to me. I want to hear it again so I can grasp all they explained.
...to prevent us going into a depression worse than the 1930s.
Whoa! This brought me up short. Our previous generations (my gransparents and great grandparents) did okay surviving The Great Depression but I do NOT think this current multi-generational era (me included) could do as well. I think we have had it too easy for too long and the younger generations have grown up with instant-gratification, many with a sense of entitlement, and will find adapting very difficult to do.
I'd be interested in that. I wonder if there is a transcript somewhere?
