Got our income tax return today - YAY!

Finally, our bigger bills are going to be taken care of. It was just sort of a "monkey on our backs" for a few months but slowly-but-surely it will be chipped away at now. Keeping my fingers crossed that no other unexpected major expenses occur. Please, God, don't let it flood here when it thaws.

I haven't even filed my taxes yet But we have until the end of April...I just need to locate one more T4...*shakes head* If my head wasn't attached to my body, I would probably misplace it, too!

I'm glad your bills are paid! I'm going to have to do the same with my tax return. It'll be nice to be on track again! (And I hope you don't get flooded out, 2kids3cats4me)

We just filed ours Monday. I still have to do my kids taxes but the EZ form doesn't take long. We save our income tax return money to pay our real estate taxes.

Jo, do you live in an area that is prone to flooding? I was just thinking the other day that I think it would be so hard to live in a high flooding area.

Sue

Well, it's not normally this bad. This winter has been ridiculous!

The majority of the city is built in a valley with a river running through it. We live about 3 houses away from one of the dikes. Until about 4 years ago we were still required to carry flood insurance because of the risks but now that work has been done on the Alameda Dam north of here in Canada the requirement for flood insurance was lifted. However, with the way-more-than-expected snowfall we've had this winter we took out another insurance policy, just in case. If you have time, look up information on the Internet about the flood of 1969 in Minot, North Dakota. The house we live in has been through that flood. I just don't want something like that to happen again. We had 40-some degrees for a high today with just as nice of temps or a little better for the next few days. The good thing, though, is it has been cooling off down to the 'teens overnight which helps to cap off and slow down the thawing we get during the day.

Re: Got our income tax return today - YAY!

Haven't done mine yet either. I bought Turbo Tax, I pulled together all my paperwork the end of last week and psyched myself up to do them. Went to load TT on my computer and the CD/DVD drive is dead. Won't spin up at all, not recognizing any CD/DVD I put in it. I have an old computer I can use, but lost my enthusiasm that day and haven't gotten it back yet. Might have to consider doing them over the weekend. Then I gotta think about backing up my computer and clearing all the personal info so I can take it back to Best Buy to get the drive replaced. The good news is that I do have the extended warranty.

We did ours, got it back, and put it straight towards one of our cars and got it paid off! It's such a relief! I love tax time, lol.

That's awesome, Jo! Congrats! I bet it did feel wonderful to pay off those bills!

We got our state back, and hopefully our federal will be here next week. I have to say, I'm doing my part to stimulate this crappy economy, by buying all new camera equipment, and a new camera! We did pay off some bills as well, cut up some credit cards, and it felt wonderful!
