Speaking of pests........

Hearing about how some think the canadian geese are a menace, did anyone else happen to see a show on Animal Planet (I think it was Animal Planet anyway), called "Moose on the Loose"? Oh my word! I didn't catch the beginning, but I'm pretty positive it was shot in Alaska. It was about how the moose and bear come down into the towns during the winter months, and literally cause caos on a daily basis, for the residents in these towns. The moose are literally living amongst these towns, in peoples yards, and alot of the time while people are living their daily lives right around them. Oh my! The destruction they can cause! I'll take my white tail deer chewing on my trees any day of the year, compared to that! Wow!

Re: Speaking of pests........

I remember watching bits about these issues. For the bears, residents needed to stay indoors after dark and keep their garbage cans inside LOCKED barriers to protect them. The people with the most trouble were those who did not protect their garbage cans.

As for the moose. Meece? The program I saw (several years ago) was showing people trying to enter a building at a college(?) and the moose cow was attacking the people because she had her calf with her and her instincts were telling her to 'defend/protect her offspring'. She kicked and trampled a man. In one shot, if she had not knocked this man down into the snow, her hind-leg kick could have taken his head OFF she kicked so quickly and forcefully.
