Are face masks really benefical?

I've never brought them. I buy facial wash and face cream because i see why are benefical, but never face masks.

Why do I ask? Well, brought some toiletries today and, because i spent x amount of cash, I got a face mask free. I have not used it yet.

Re: Are face masks really benefical?

I've only used a mask once/twice. I used a kind that had to be applied, allowed to dry and firm-up a bit before being peeled away. I suppose they are good for clearing your pores and removing any dead skin cells, but I can't say I really noticed any difference. Give it a try and see if you like it, if you don't you can toss it, but you may find you like it.

I thought for a second you were going to try some home surgery or something....

That looks like something you might put out to attract wildlife

Re: Are face masks really benefical?

I use a face mask by "Korres". It is the only one i have found, that i really like. What i notice about face masks is that, they really deep clean. I have VERY oily skin, and it seems to help with that, and make my face really soft, but as for spots, and acne....nothing. I like to use it twice a week, or when i feel like i need a really deep cleansing.

I have VERY sensitive skin, and LUSH products gave me hives. My mom and sister love them, i just havent found one right for my skin. I think it must be something they add to it.

Also, i really like "Queen Helene Mint Julip" mask, but i dont know if you could get this in the UK. Its about $4.00 where i live, and it works pretty well.

Anyways, if i can think of anything else, i'll pass it your way!

Re: Are face masks really benefical?

I try to use a face mask once a week as I have quite dry skin and find that it keeps my face nice and soft (appreciate that that sounds a tad odd ). I don't often get spots but have heard that face masks can sometimes lead to spots in the couple of days after you've used them as they bring out the impurities so it's prob best not to use it before a big event/hot date etc!

I've only used them sort of for fun, but my roommate swears by them. I have also heard that they can "bring out impurities" and make you break out just after, but I've never had that problem and I don't really know if I believe it.

Re: Are face masks really benefical?

Oh, I've had the 'bringing out impurities' problem. I don't bother with facemasks now for that reason.
But it could be just that I've never found the right sort of mask for my sort of skin. There are so many to choose from!

Don't you think that is caused by too much abrasion? When I was in high school, I had a really nice complexion, but I kept reading about washing your face with hot water and splashing with cold, and I overdid it.

I think a moistening mask would be better. It makes you think you're doing something good, anyway!
