After waiting 2 hours in line...

I finally got tickets for the concert pass at the ND State Fair. They went on sale today at 8 a.m. so went we straight there after taking the kids to daycare. I sure hope all the shows are worth that 2-hour wait. The jacked the price of the pass up by $10 again this year but it's still a really good deal. We get to see 4 concerts, a demolitian derby, a classic car show and one other event that I'm forgetting right now for $75 per person.

Exciting! That means summer is on it's way! Yeh!

Back in my younger days, I used to go to alot of country music concerts. I waited in line one time for 3 days for tickets! The Green Bay Packers practice field was right across the street from the arena where we were waiting, and I got to get a couple autographs too! Got front row seats to the show too! Ah........to be young again!

Do you know who will be on the Fair's playlist this year? That sounds like it will be a lot of fun, no matter who is performing!

Taylor Swift
Rodney Atkins with Heidi Newfield (newly solo - used to sing lead for Trick Pony)
Gary Allen
Dierks Bentley

Those are the country shows which are always sold as a "concert pass" along with seats to the classic car show, demo derby and Enduro race.

I'm expecting a ton of people to show up for Taylor Swift (you can by separate tickets to each concert for $50 or something and not get the "grandstand pass", which I think is goofy), but anyway I think there will be way more in attendance for hers than any other.

I'm also kind of expecting high numbers for the Gary Allen concert; not necessarily that he's that great of an artist (I can take him or leave him) but his parents live in a small town just 45 minutes or so from here. Gary has never lived in ND but his dad was born and raised here. Gary grew up in CA where his dad spent most of his time in the military and when he retired they moved back to ND.

I've gotten to see Dierks Bentley at a casino just a ways from here a few years ago. He puts on a really good show!

The rock concerts (sold seperate from the country) are Motley Crue and somebody else yet to be announced. I talked to one of the workers this morning and they're still waiting to finalize the contract with somebody but she wouldn't say who.

I'll take pics of the cars if we go to the car shows. Depends on if we find a sitter that night or not. I know the kids wouldn't like it; they'd just be bugging us to go on rides all night.

BTW, I'm still looking for a date to Motley Crue is someone wants to go with me.

A state fair would be great. It's expensive, though. How much for the children? Will you have to mortgage the house? Enjoy!

Oh, and as far as price, we don't need to pay gate admission for the kids but the concert pass is still the same whether you're 3 or 83. No mortgaging the house. We plan for this every year and manage to tuck a little away before tickets go on sale.

I couldn't survive listening to country music let along LIVE country music for all the money in the world.

Motley Crew on the other hand , I saw them live last summer. It was a good show! I sometimes wish I could have kids just so I can introduce them to good old rock and metal. That be cool, taking them to a Van Halen concert or something

When is the fair taking place? If it's soon it must be warm where you live.

Demolition derby btw is great to watch.

The fair is until the last week of July. I'm in North Dakota so, no, it's not that warm here right now - average 45F.
