The Rescue Shelter boys?! Lol

There's an article on BBC News website today about a request by Peta for the Pet Shop Boys to change their name to the Rescue Shelter Boys. I have to check the date to make sure it wasn't originally published on 1 April

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/entertainment/7991324.stm

It does highlight an important issue though, so it's good that they achieved their goal on some level

PETA generally makes me giggle. You know their stunts aren't to be taken seriously - like when they suggested that beer was better for you than milk, and when they asked the Green Bay Packers to change their name to the Green Bay Pickers. They're meant to grab a piece of spotlight, and it works famously.

Makes me LOL, anyway.

I always imagine a bunch of them sitting around in a room, imbibing in something illegal, and then coming up with these wackadoodle ideas. I bet they get the munchies too. Can they make brownies without eggs?

my favorite was the plan to make people stop fishing. Rename "fish" to something cute and cuddly - SEA KITTENS! Nobody in their right mind would go out and fish for sea kittens!

Nobody in their right minds would name fish 'sea kittens'. They are so whackadoo it just isn't funny.

I have some friends who are positively stuck on sea-kittens. It's hysterical!

Why am I not surprised? Somehow, "Rescue Shelter Boys" doesn't strike me as a good name for a band. I'd picture some homeless kids in a soup line.....

I used to raise a lot of tropical sea-kittens, and never ate a single one. I'm sure it was the name. LOL
