what do you think?

i know it's probably terribly cheesy, idk. it takes me months to look at my own writing and get a clear opinion on it. i'm asking for honest opinions so seriously, don't feel bad to tell me you hate it

I’m the only one awake in my house
It’s the only time I can cry.
I have to be so strong right now
To help my loved ones get by.
We’ve lost such a wonderful part of our lives
And our hearts ache to the core
We have so many memories to live with
But we all expected much more
The times we had were amazing
The friendship so very true
There were so many hard times in life
That we helped each other get through
If only you could be here today
We’d hug you as tight as we could
And tell you how much you mean to us
And make sure you understood
But we know you are gone forever
As much as part of us won’t believe
The time will soon come where reality sets in
And we’ll still be without you to grieve
You wouldn’t believe what a difference you’ve made
Or how many people care
We are all so grateful we knew you
So glad for the times we shared
We all wish things were so different
That we didn’t have to say goodbye
That your time with us was not over
That this horrible truth is a lie
But already in death you’ve taught us more
About living life while we can
About taking for granted no one
About how much we can miss one man

Re: what do you think?

That's beautiful. I know you and your husband just lost his best friend. This made me tear up.

It really is quite lovely and sad and touching.

Re: what do you think?

That was absolutely beautiful! It made me think of my sister, Karen, who died from cancer at age 45 nine years ago.

I'm so sorry for your loss.

Thank you for sharing,

Marsha

Re: what do you think?

That was beautiful. You captured every nuance of what everyone would be feeling.
You may ask to read it, have it read, or printed up and distributed at his memorial service to share with everyone?

That was beautiful! You are very talented, and what an expressive way to get through the grief. Thank you for sharing it, and I'm sorry for your loss.

Re: what do you think?

thanks everyone, i started trying to write a journal type thing, its the best way for me to get it all out. this is what came out instead, there's so much more i could say i guess about my personal feelings, but i was hoping it would tell of the emotions all my friends are going through too, sort of an overview i guess? idk. i'm not sure i will be sharing it at the service...don't know if it's b/c i'm not confident enough of it or if it's something else entirely. but everytime i think about it, i back out.

I wonder if it is because this Memorial Poem is just too close your heart and personal, right now. Perfectly okay to not want to share it, yet. Or ever, if that is how you feel.
