My local pharmacy is awesome!

I have to de-worm everybody and I started with the kittens last night. Well, I only did ONE kitten, actually. As soon as the med touched her mouth she foamed and salivated something awful, slinging it (and the de-worm med) EVERYWHERE! What a mess.
Poor kitty! I washed her face and helped to rinse her mouth.
I went to my local pharmacy that has a compounding service today and told them my problem and how I thought empty gel-capsules could solve the salivating problem. When she heard it was for fosters, she gave them to me, free! AND ... the capsules are *chicken flavor* so it will make pilling a little easier!

Ohh, you did get lucky.

Be sure to let us know how the chicken flavored capsuled worming goes.

Very cool! I hope that the medicine goes down better with the capsules.

Compounding Pharmacies are usually more expensive. The universe was smiling on you to talk to an animal lover. How did these chicken flavored ones work? Is the gell chicken flavor or is there ground up chicken flavor inside the caps to combine with your deworming meds? which meds were you using? Panacur?

It was chicken flavor gelcaps, no meds from them or I'm sure it would have cost big bucks. It was a med that started with a P, I can't remember what if it was panacure, prazi-something or pyran-something-pamate(sp?).

The gelcaps went down a treat. I popped them in with the pillgun and chased it with an eyedropper of water. No head slinging, no foaming and hardly any interruption with their purring.

Sounds like you're using pyrantel (Strongid). Every time I've tried using that stuff on a cat, I've gotten most of it on the bathroom walls. At least my bathroom is worm-free.
