A watched pot never boils...

And an unwatched pot boils over! I made hot wheat farina cereal (Malt O Meal, Cream of Wheat, etc...but mine was generic) about 3 times... finally got it right, when I went "modern" and just nuked ONE serving in the microwave. Here I was trying to be old-fashioned/thrifty and make several servings on the stove so I could put a few servings in the fridge for later eating.

Also, 15 minutes is a looooong time, when you're waiting for cookies to come out of the oven!

Now that I'm all waited-out, I'm goin' beddy-bye... Zinny transferred her respiratory infection to me

In my house last night it was a watched stove never heats. The preheat light came on when I turned on the stove so I went to sit down to watch for it to beep. Half an hour later still no beep. Stuck my hand in the oven to check and it was stone cold. Tried to turn on the burners and no luck. It seems that we have a very large clock on our hands as that is keeping perfect time

I don't have a real stove, but just a hot plate. Several times I've come to check on stuff, only to realize I turned the knob, but didn't plug it in first!

LOL, that is something that I would do. I make the pre packaged Cream of Wheat or oatmeal because I don't think that I have ever made the real stuff correctly.
