Studio portraits - first time with new studio lighting set up.

While I'm waiting for hubby to finish my real studio space, I had to set up a temporary space in our basement to do a couple family portraits this past weekend. These are a couple of the individual portraits that I liked best (haven't gotten to editing the family ones yet).

This was definitely something new for me, and my very first time working with and photographing people with studio lighting. I have to say, even though I have ALOT to learn about it yet, I had so much fun with it...........and I think I'm hooked!

Using a fan to get some motion in her hair, and an additional flash behind with a blue gel on it to give the effect in the hair. This is the one she and her mom picked.

Using a clear sheet of plexiglas to give the reflection effect.

This is a senior that I did portraits for early this year. She just graduated from Marine boot camp, and wanted something "cool" for her Facebook profile pic. She's an amazing girl, and so polite!

And one of Patch Cat, just cause she's so darn cute!

Beautiful!

That's probably the best picture I've ever seen of Patches. She's really gorgeous, and that background color is perfect.

Good work! I really like the different touches on each one (the blue light from behind, etc.). They make each picture interesting.

Thank you all! Appreciate that! And just in case anyone is wondering why you can't see the Marine's eyes..........it's the way she wanted it. I'm so used to asking for the hats to be pushed up slightly to see the eyes under the brim, but that's not the way they are photographed in this uniform I guess.
