Snow on the ground

According to CNN, there is snow on the ground in 49 of 50 states.

The only state left untouched, Florida. Even Hawaii has snow... in the mountains.

My Floridian father wasn't happy when I told him about this...he's stuck at my house in a blizzard (it's coming down so hard right now that I can barely see the house across the street...forecast revised from 10-14" to 2 feet).

And once they get enough snow piled up on the sides of the runways at Logan nobody gets out till spring.

I always wonder what the fawns, born in the early Minnesota Spring and flourishing through the lush vegetation and abundant water of the Summer and Fall, think when they wake up to the first snowfall and then slog through the stuff, chest deep, for the rest of the winter looking for some tree bark to eat. I'd start heading South.

I just got off the phone with a friend living in Vermont. He said that since early this morning the snow has been nearly waist high and is still falling. The temperature is dropping way below zero and the north wind is increasing to near gale force. His wife has done nothing but look through the kitchen window and just stare.

He says that if it gets much worse, he may have to let her in.

It's been below freezing for over a week now. I think the high the other day was 30F. FINALLY it should get up to about 36 this weekend.

So much for global warming!

Only 66 more days until Spring...

Snow fall this year, here in the Twin Cities Metro area, has already reached the average total for a whole season and the snowiest month is only half over - not to mention the rest of winter! I put out dry dog food as a snack for the local foxes at night.

It's still laying here in southeastern NC and the darn stuff won't melt!! I love snow, because we really don't get it often, but once I have to get out in it and the ice, I'm always scarred I'll fall and bust my butt! lol! We had ice covering our snow.
