Another quake

Whoa! We're STILL shaking a bit as I type this.

Not bad, probably about a 4.0. I'm awake NOW!

The last quake we had of any consequence was last year, measuring a 5.0. I slept through it! I hope the girls aren't too frightened.

It was 5.1 from the first reports. I always panic, thinking of the girls, hoping it's not the "big one."

That's big enough to rattle you, I'm sure! That's the thing about earthquakes, you never know if it's the big one or not.

Ayayay don't say that, they say here in Chile we will have a huge aftershock (last year's quake was 8. of at least 7

Just try and be ready, without being paranoid or something but a couple flashlights and water and a radio (batteries) and some food supplies are a good idea.

I'm some sort of a geek so when the earthquake hit us, we even had a battery tv set, a lotta flashlights and weird gadgets to charge cell phones and all that.

We're apparently on very sturdy ground up here in Agoura (not to mention pretty far away from this quake) so I almost never seem to feel them!

Oddly enough, earthquakes don't really make me that nervous. I was living 10 min from Northridge when the massive Northridge Quake hit the valley in 1994, and I guess living through that, scary as it was, reassured me that CA is well-built to deal with these sorts of things. We lost our chimneys and had cracks and broken stuff, but no injuries and no severe structural damage to the body of the house.

Wow. Marie!

We are too far north to have felt it...That certainly brings the total tally for So Cal to a pretty high number for the last few years....!

One funny thing about it was that my boss was leaving a voice mail message for someone, very serious and professional, and in the middle of it, she says "Oh, my!!!" really loud!

Have to say, I'm slightly worried when I go to Seattle. It does get earthquakes apparently. Will be my first time ever in a 'quake zone :S
