Another earthquake in Christchurch, New Zealand

Wow, this poor city can't get a break! Major damage and deaths reported already. They're still rebuilding from the September earthquake and large December aftershock.

The city is in ruins. Their lovely cathedral has lost its spire, many many houses and other buildings are just flattened.

Even though the magnitude wasn't all that high, because the epicentre was so close to the surface, it was a lot worse than the September quake.

very hard to watch on the news, several years ago we visited that cathedral, walked the park where people were being triaged, kind of amazed at the damage of newer buildings...

That entire region of the world (Australia, New Zealand) have had such a terrible year, or so. I feel so badly for all of them.

It really is such a shame that the lovely church has sustained such damage.
