Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead

I tried to find the FSND thread but my phone wouldnt cooperate. D***droid. I wanted to do an update.

I watched the movie after reading it discussed in the lounge. Then I had my sister watch it with me again. We decided to do a life style change. My sister had been dieting and only loosing a pound or two a week. It was discouraging for her.

We went online and I bought a juicer like was in the movie. We love it. So easy to use and clean. I juiced with a friend one day. We used her Jack Lalane juicer. What a poorly designed piece of junk. I didnt tell her that though.

Im happy to report my sister has lost 35 pounds. Her doctors are elated. I went to the doctor and found out I have dangerously high blood pressure. None of my friends can believe it cuz I'm so laid back! I talked the doctor into giving me 6 weeks to bring it down. (He thinks juicing is rediculous). Ive lost no weight juicing!!! But have been working out and juice & graze thru the day. I havent managed to give up two of my vices. Which i know wont help the in bringing down the blood pressure. But juicing has made me feel better and more energy. Thanks everyone for recommending the movie and the Food Matters movie. Both were inspirational.

I'm reading a great book right now called Animal Vegetable Miracle. It's about a family who moves from Tuscan to ..somewhere in Appalachia.... They want to try and reduce the use of gas/carbon footprint to live/feed themselves. THeir idea is to only eat local and have almost 0 items shipped in for food.

Great book. I got it from my local library.

Congrats on the weight loss and health in your family! It's amazing how much eating right can help us feel better and how much it can improve our health.
