We made it!
8 days total on the road, barely got all our stuff into the two vehicles, picked up a Swedish Backpacker in Toronto who needed a ride out west and finally made it to our new home city on Wednesday afternoon! The house is way better than I expected, really close to my new work and it's really nice to be "home" again (I grew up on this coast so everything seems really familiar).
The cats were AWESOME. No pooping, minimal crying, they got dosed with Rescue Remedy a few times but basically did so much better than I expected. They did stay crated the whole time because there was only room for one person in the car with them (the driver) but they were on the passenger seat all wedged in and spent time grooming eachother, sleeping, and eating snacks. Neither one of them would use the litter box until we stopped for the night but they didn't stop eating or anything, and were perfectly behaved in all the hotel rooms! I was prepared for something much worse so I'm totally stoked! They are enjoying their new digs with the exception of my sister's Boston Terrier who they are unsure about (he's staying with us until tomorrow)--Atlas was interested at first, kind of watched him from around a corner, but knocked over a gate with a loud clang on the first night and was so scared by the sound--he thought the dog made it I'm sure--that he's just been nipping up the stairs to see us and avoiding the kitchen (fenced off for the dog) area entirely which is fine with all of us.
Don't have real internet yet (we've been drinking a lot of Starbucks!) but will this week! Phew! Now to buy a house full of furniture from the Habitat for Humanity Restore down the street.....
