Human to cat introduction

Well, the SO finally got to meet Shepherd Book. He's never been a cat person and he always said that MowMow was the exception (he worships the Mow). He was up for a 2 week visit and left this morning.

I was a bit concerned because Shepherd Book doesn't have all his manners yet. He's not always careful with teeth and claws (he does ease up when gently reminded). He also hasn't learned that humans aren't to be scaled like a tree to reach places he can't jump too and he still antagonizes his brother too often.

It worked out much better than I could have anticipated. Shepherd Book had a playmate while I was at work and MowMOw had a referee. Evenings watching movies was a hoot. The kitten sprawled across his chest, me leaning against him and MowMow stretched across both our laps. He also didn't believe me that it was a wise idea to put his pillow about a foot lower than the headboard to leave some space...until the first morning we tried to sleep in and the boys were chasing each other & racing across where I heads WOULD have been resting.

All in all it went well other than the SO is convinced the kitten is "a bit touched in the head". Now however Shep. Book is missing his best buddy and playmate. He keeps checking the rest of the apartment looking for dad.

LOL! That might have been helpful!

The only thing the SO needed reminding of occasionally is that he's just a kitten and therefore may not KNOW all behaviors aren't allowed. Also that he's a teenager and to keep in mind that gentle correction might have to be repeated many for the same behavior before Shep Book gets the idea that (for example) "NO! It's not alright that you grab an entire homemade chorizo burrito off my plate and drag it off to eat!" or "That very icey and lovely glass of water was NOT put on the coffee table for you to play in and likely knock over." and the one that is a CONSTANT problem with SHepherd Book "I put that item up there out of your reach so you can't have it..NOT because I want you to figure out a way to scale the entire [insert furniture here] to get it down again!"
