Laptop lock up

I'm on my husbands laptop right now. My laptop cursor has locked up, and won't move. I can use the arrow keys to navigate around sometimes, and sometimes that doesn't work either. I've been able to power off, and power back on, but nothing helps. HELP! What gives? Is it Windows 7 locking up, or something else? Is it done for?

I assume you're using the built in mouse pad thing? Try plugging in a normal computer mouse and seeing if that works.

Are you using a mouse or the touchpad? Try a mouse or a different mouse.

I'm curious though, can the keypad be fixed? I use my laptop mostly when I'm on the couch, not really a mouse friendly area.

Have you tried plugging in a normal mouse? That might work.

Ok, I'm back on my laptop, the plug in mouse works. Can I get the key pad back?

Ah... have you got a spare keyboard? lol...

If the whole panel is dead, you might need to take it into a computer shop.

It might not be the case that the computer is broken. It might be that you accidentally locked the keypad (I did that once). Try function/F7. That unlocks the keypad on some (but only some) computers (might not work on yours). Otherwise, try going to your control panel (on your start menu) and seeing if there's an lock/unlock feature for your keypad. Failing all that, wait until someone else comes along who knows more than I do!!
