Heck, we had rain, snow, hail and sleet this weekend!!

You'd think growing up in Alaska and New Hampshire, I would have learned how to ski, but, nope.

I went skiing... once. At the very end when we were going down the last small hill I fell and lost my tuque and one of my polls. I don't have what it takes to be a skier, I was going down hills at crazy speeds and not quite sure how to stop unless I flung myself on the ground, taking out another 10 people in the process. Luckily it never came to that.

When I go to Cypress/Grouse/Seymour tobogganing is more my speed. Er, but I haven't done that in like 15 years either. I mostly avoid the mountains and occasionally drive up or around them with friends for the heck of it.

I do every year. Andes mountains here in my country

It does require a lot of practice. First times when I was a shy teenager I went through all the embarrassing ski trainee moments (including of course ridiculous crashes in front of cute instructors)

I couldn't go this last winter tho. I sprained my ankle and I still haven't recovered from that

Used to be a very avid skier, but kind of drifted away from it 10 years ago or so...mainly because I didn't have anyone to ski with...friends who knew how to ski never had any money, the ones with funds weren't interested.

Now I have no interest in spending that much time in the cold, besides...I'd probably end up mangling myself.

Can you go during the day in NH? Or you have to stay?

I bet that makes it way more expensive.

Marie, did you have hail like this?
or this? Hailstorm in Montclair, Ca - YouTube

This was on Sunday night. I posted this on my Facebook page yesterday:

Quote:
The weather was wacky last night. We had a HAIL storm on November 6, 2011, at approximately 5-6 pm that lasted for about an hour. It started off with a massive flash of lightning, followed by a tremendous clap of thunder almost simultaneously. We proceeded to have a spectacular lightning show with the occasional claps of thunder (that were still VERY loud). At one point, we even heard a loud popping sound, like the lightning had struck something. Since our power didn't go out, I'm assuming it struck a tree. The link I'm including is from someone who lives in another part of Montclair, but it shows the hail. And apparently, this storm also struck in Colton, CA as well. However, Upland wasn't affected and neither was L.A. I called my parents after it was over and they said that it didn't happen there.

There are tons of major ski areas within a 1-2 hour drive, so day trips are very easy to do. There are even a few smaller mountains less than an hour away that are great night skiing areas.

I used to compete when I was in college but after that I moved to South Carolina and a few years of not skiing and keeping up the skill level killed it for me.

I can't image how expensive it must be now.

The last time people tried to elimate free roaming cats it resulted in The Black Plague.
