Police activity literally across the street from me.

Since approximately 8:30-9:00 pm PST (just about two hours ago), there has been a helicopter flying overhead with its beam trained on the mall. According to my ex, there are bunch of police cars surrounding the mall. There's nothing on the local news about it, so I have no clue as to WTH is going on. I walk to this mall just about every day! I'm so glad I decided not to go today. :y ikes

Aerial shot of the mall:

Just out of camera range on the right hand side of the picture is my street, then the town house complex we live in, just to give you an idea of how close this is to us.

Here's the link to the Google page that I got this picture from:http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=en&su...-8&sa=N&tab=wl You can click on the picture to make it bigger.

I hate when the helicopters are directly over your house. With the floodlights. That usually means someone nutjob is loose out there. Good thing I have attack-cats.

Of course, they probably won't attack you unless you try to get in their space.

Under the bed.

My sister was home when her neighbor was shot and killed by her ex-boyfriend last week. It's not safe anywhere.

I was just telling David that I don't think that anyone is going to get any sleep tonight. Yay...not! We're going to be a bunch of cranky people. Ugh!

There's probably a suspect around. Lock your doors, get your 12-gauge, and lie in wait.

That's horrible, Marie! Very traumatizing to say the least.

Happens everywhere. And not just in current times. When I was a kid (back in the dark ages), there was a cop chase right through our apartment complex and shooting going on right under my open bedroom window.

About 30-45 minutes after I replied to Marie, I noticed that I didn't hear the helicopter anymore, so I was able to get some sleep.

Doodle, about four or five years ago, when my youngest two sons were in elementary school, their school had to be locked down because there had been a double murder-suicide at a house that was 4 doors away from the school. There were at least five Montclair PD police cars, a SWAT team, two other police departments, and the street was blocked off. I even think that there was a fire truck and paramedic there, too. It started around 11:30 am and ended at 6:00 pm. Then it took another 1-2 hours until I was able to pick up my boys since the school was releasing the students one by one, after checking parent/guardian IDs.
