Oh, Insomnia

I am having major insomnia right now. I hate when the sandman skips my house. It's like he is afraid of me or something! Glad it's my Friday at work!
Nights like these make me think of what my mom used to sing to me to go to sleep.

"Down in The Valley" was my lullaby from my mom. I remember times when I'd have bad dreams and she'd sing that to me. It was like almost instant sleep! Some of my insomnia is homesickness. Being 1,000 miles away can do that to you

But I wouldn't trade that for the world.

How did your parents get you to sleep as a kid? Any Special stories they'd tell? Frying pans to the head? A special lullaby? A comfy blanket?

Have you tried Melatonin yet? I really works for me. I started off with 1 mg strength. I also use 3mg on particularly bad nights. Most drugstores carry it.

Cut back on caffeine too. I don't drink any after 12Noon.

Funny I don't remember how my mom lulled me to sleep. I also drink very little caffeine and yet I am a chronic Insomniac. I have learned to put the head of my bed right under the window though. All winter it has been open a few inches, I seem to sleep better when the room is very cold. (and the cats pile on when it is too as an added bonus).

Try this

The last time people tried to elimate free roaming cats it resulted in The Black Plague.

That also explains the "matting" issue. Brush your kitties counterclockwise.

Lol I work for the CBS testing facility! I love Big Bang. I nicknamed Pinky soft kitty. Because she is so soft. But really I don't drink a lot of caffeine. It just gets me some nights

I was put in bed and threatened with a spanking if I got up. So I soon learned to daydream (at night) and eventually fell a sleep.

I read books with my children and never put them to bed before 9-9:30 pm.

I'm a member of the insomnia club too. The only thing that helps is Benadryl, which I take 3 of about an hour before going to bed. Have you tried Benadryl? Very good stuff.

I remember my Dad rocking me (in the rocking chair) and singing to me. Sometimes he would make up songs.

Do you have a "bedtime routine"? I take a shower before bed. It warms me up (I get cold easily) and relaxes me. Then I go downstairs and get rid of any of the wet cat food leftover and say good night to my cats.

If you are religious, prayer can help. I do that and usually it is enough to get rid of all the miscellanous stuff going through my head. Something like a repetitive Celtic prayer is good.

I second the Benedryl suggestion. If you can't breathe, it's hard to sleep.
