Caboodle Ranch: *Breaking News* Rescue Effort Underway to Save the Cats

UPDATE: ASPCA cat removal underway at Madison County ranch | Tallahassee Democrat | tallahassee.com

Quote:
After dozens of calls from concerned people who visited Caboodle Ranch in Madison County, Daphna Nachminovitch, vice president of cruelty investigations for People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals, said something had to be done.

Nachminovitch said PETA often performs undercover investigations and an employee posed as a volunteer at the 30-acre, tree-lined ranch from September to February, capturing some gruesome footage from the no-kill ranch.

"Cats at Caboodle Ranch suffered from open wounds, debilitating respiratory disease, parasites, eye ulcerations and more," Nachminovitch said. "'No kill' was really 'slow kill' for hundreds of cats in this grossly inhumane cat ranch."
here is a facebook page that should be kept up-to-date on the rescue efforts: Caboodle Ranch: Save the kitties | Facebook

The first link requires a subscription. $9.95 a month.

He's one from one from the facebook page to The Tampa Bay Times. I shy away from the Facebook page because it mght be PETA

After PETA operation, hundreds of cats await rescue - Tampa Bay Times

The last time people tried to elimate free roaming cats it resulted in The Black Plague.

Wow, I'm so sorry to read this. I knew there had been some questions raised in the past, but saw Craig's response to them and it really did sound like he was on top of things.

I think this was a well-intentioned man who just didn't have the resources to take care of all of the cats, and things got quickly out of control.

I am completely heartsick and heartbroken over what I've just read. I cannot stop crying reading the accounts of "eyewitnesses." I don't know what else to say.

I feel bad for the cats. I really do. BUT I am sorry to say I am skeptical when it comes to reports coming from PETA.

(OFF TOPIC A BIT) They have been caught too many times padding the reports or recently doing the abuse.

wow missed these numbers but just looked it up.

The woman who runs Cathouse on The Kings is in financial trouble too. And that means the cats will be in trouble eventually. At least that's the way it looked half way thru the shown about CH on The Kings I was watching on Animal Planet. I had to stop when they went to the shelter.

I think the "eye witness" reports are from a PETA person. I'd take them with a grain of salt.

If Peta made it into any of our houses they'd claim horrific conditions and eiuthanize our cats.

Dave, that shelter visit actually wasn't that bad -- and believe me, I'm ultra-squeamish with that type of thing and wouldn't have watched if it had been. Her person just went in there and took some of the hard-luck cases or, in one case, a cat with a broken leg that hadn't been diagnosed by the shelter's vet. It was basically a happy story.....although I really hope she isn't over-extending herself and we're not reading about CHOTK someday too.

You underestimate my wimpiness. I stopped watching as they were driving up. I thought it would be a Sarah Mclachlan moment. I can't stand to see the little faces staring out of the cages.

I so totally agree, I can't tell you. As soon as I see those sad little faces, or even the music telling you sad little faces are coming, I change the channel. I lunge to the remote like my life depends on it.

When will these people learn that positive, happy stories are what would make people want to adopt?????
