So true. I would never give up Chinchilla or Peanut. They are with my fiance and I until they go to the Great Beyond naturally.

True: People need to realize that adopting an animal is a committment! I've seen craigslist ads lately for cats up for adoption bc 1) had a baby 2) kid wants a doggie instead - after cat is 6 years old 3) allergies 4) 'thought we were ready for 3rd cat but weren't after all'. I can kind of understand the allergies, but unless they are severe, things can be done to mitigate that. There are also the ones who have to rehome because they lost their own home and new home doesn't allow pets. Those ones are very sad.

I don't know about the rest of the country but in my home town of Concord, CA. it was extremely difficult to find an apartment that allows pets.
I a tragedy that people who have lost their then find they can't find a place to live that will accept a beloved pet.

Not much easier on the Peninsula, but possible, and usually the ones that allow pets want big pet deposit, so people in financial difficulty already find that prohibitive. There is a big fancy complex on the next block and they allow pets, but they are not cheap to rent in the first place, don't know what they charge for pets. Even some condo buildings often have no pet policies in the HOA rules. I used to live in one. I want to know how my having an indoor only cat could possibly bother anyone else in the building.

CJinCA the yowling during a bath might disturb them I have a duplex neighbor who I pity on those nights! Actually the reason I prefer to rent from a person and not a company is the pet deposit issue. My lease has a pet clause in it, but I was told that the owner loves cats and wouldn't mind in the slightest if we had one, so I've never had to pay a dime in fees for Hanx!

It is hard to find a place that allows pets. but in all the moves I had to make during a 15 year period.. there were a lot. I ALWAYS found a place be it an apartment or house that let me take 5 cats.. but then I ALWAYS had to do some fancy talking to a few of them to talk them into it..

I'm having a terrible time finding a place that allows more than one. It took me a long time last time I moved, too, and I only had one then. Of course, I'm looking for a small house, there are probably lots of apartments and condos that will accept two. Three? Impossible, so far.
