Budget airlines?

I saw an ad for 'Cheapoair'! Sounds like a Godsend! I like to travel, but the cost can be prohibitive. Er ,how cheap is cheap? 'The plane lands in Japan,YOU land in California!' Seriously, has anyone had experience with low- budget air? What are the creature comforts,if any? What appeals to me is you GET where you want to GO,at a reasonable price!

Be very very wary. Shop around on internet review sites. Don't go for the cheapest and most importantly. read ALL of the terms and conditions. Some are really shady.

There's a few in the UK, and although I've only really experienced one (Flybe), it's pretty good. Basic, and I certainly wouldn't want to go long-haul (even if they did).

what he said. you can get good deals by shopping around, but be careful with those "budget" sites because you can have problems with a refund if you decide to cancel. sometimes there are booking packages and then you find out that even though you booked through expedia they'll shift you around to priceline, etc. and you have a difficult time getting your money. i prefer to book directly, and i am picky about airlines. sometimes the "cheap" ones add on for everything--you have to pay for water, you have to pay for carry on, they lose luggage, are late, don't disclose details until it's too late to change, etc. i doubt if i'd use anything called "cheapo" air. most of the time, you do get what you pay for.
