This little guy is coming to live at my house a week from Saturday!
He's a 2-3 year old mutt, probably some sort of spaniel mix. His elderly momma passed away unexpectedly and the family took him to the shelter in a high kill area of Kentucky. He was petrified and spent 2 months there cowering in his kennel. They couldn't get him adopted, his number was up, but a shelter worker thought he had potential so she contacted a rescue. His foster mom said it took him a few days but he settled in nicely at her place.
He's neutered, house trained, crate trained and best of all...loves cats. She said he's always snuggling with hers. She said he has great manners, doesn't chew stuff he's not supposed to, doesn't go looking for snacks in litter boxes, doesn't jump on people, loves other dogs but is a bit under socialized with people.
I'm sure my kitties will be less than impressed with the newcomer at first. I expect Kobi will be the first to accept him, he was playing with Holly and grooming her within 24 hours. Maggie will watch from afar and hiss at him whenever he gets near her for months. But she won't be aggressive or freaked out. I'm not sure about Holly, but she's pretty mellow and very submissive with Kobi & Maggie, so I think she'll be pretty accepting. The dog will go to work with me so they'll get a break from him. I need to figure out the introduction plan...
He's coming north on a pet transport on the 25th and I pick him up at 8am on Saturday the 26th. His name is currently Leo, but that has to change...it conjures up images of a friend's former boyfriend who I couldn't stand. Suggestions?
