Cat Forum posts appearing on other sites -- like we're experts?

I happened to look up Trader Joe's cat food just now, just for the fun of it, and found this site:

Trader Joe's Chicken, Turkey & Rice Dinner Review

They give Trader Joe's food a very good review, but that wasn't the interesting part. The interesting part was that a little further down the page, they refer to other places online where TJ's food has been discussed. When you click on the Cat Forum link, you see MY first question about TJ food back in 2008, when I first discovered it. Lisa, you're quoted almost verbatim!

Isn't that kind of creepy?

Not as creepy as the person trying to start up a new forum who created members and then copied posts from here and posted them under their fake members names. Tons of threads were copied verbatim.

But it is interesting to see that this site considers us a legitimate source for good info.

I remember that, and you're right, that's creepier.

I guess I'm uncomfortable with it because a Consumer Reports type web site is quoting us, like we're experts on the topic. Some of us are, like you Lisa, but others of us sure are not. I wouldn't want to be overly influential on a topic that I'm no expert on. (Who am I kidding, I bring up Trader Joe's food every chance I get, especially in cases where people are trying to find a lower-cost alternative.)

If any of my posts end up on there, it'll clearly be some kind of malfunction.

Or the end of the world.

Does this teach us anything about the quality of info we find on the intertubes?

The last time people tried to elimate free roaming cats it resulted in The Black Plague.
