Busch Gardens' Big Cats

I have an annual pass to Busch Gardens here in Florida. BG is home to 3 large species of feline. The tigers, lions, and cheetahs. They are so beautiful and BG does good research with them to help with conservation efforts. It's pretty neat. They've also opened a new building in the park that has viewing stations for medical procedures on the parks 3,000+ stock.

I just watched a TV show about a man who lived with a 500lb pet tiger. No cage or anything. He slept with it even.

They are very pretty but I would never want one as a pet.

They are not good as pets. The BG staff explains how detailed and specific their diet is.. they measure how much is consumed down to the very gram. That's how they knew the cheetah was ill because he ate 330 grams out of 1,550 grams (or something like that, I don't remember I was kind of distracted!). Its pretty neat overall, the animals are beautiful and here in Tampa we also have Big Cat Rescue which helps to educate people of why they are not good pets..

We have a big cat rescue near us. They do tours for school kids and families to raise money to pay for the care of them. Amazing. They have some volunteers who show up every day, year-round.
Beautiful, but sad.
