The worst is Valentines Day. It exists solely to make single people depressed and to make couple buy useless crap or the won't "love" each other.

It's pointless to me - you should show love every day and not just one.

I like buying gifts for Christmas, but to advertise Easter merchandise now is ridiculous! Of course bathing suits will soon be featured in the clothing stores.

Don't worry about Valentine's Day, Bean. We love you. ( :) And Moby)

Now i have a boyfriend i have to say I LOVE valentines day. I really truely hated it when i was a teenager with no other half. WHat made it wrose was every year my mum would send me valentines cards as a joke. I hated it.
the first valentines me and my boyfriend were together he did nothing. so i amde it my mission to hint after that. last year was LOVELY, came home with roses, chocolates and a bottle of asti (my fave stuff, next to red wine) i nearly cried!

You'll get into it when you find someone, Bean.

I used to say the same type of stuff.

I used to be bitter. Last year, I wasn't. But this year, I'm going to be bitter again. So... dear Bean, why don't we have a contrast. On Valentine's Day, I'll give you some roses and you'll give them back to me. And we're all happy

Bean ~ you are not bitter **hugs**
All the holidays are so commercialized and most made only to generate $$$$ for the retailers. Yesterday I was in K'mart and the X'mas stuff was 70 percent off, and sitting right next to that was the valentine's candy and easter things as well! I have a loving husband - so am fortunate there and I agree every day is a day to show affection and to care about one another ~ chin up ~ soon we will all see the holloween masks staring us in the face again *sigh*
Happy UN-valentines to you when it rolls around

I disagree, but I don't think you're far off. In my opinion, the worst is "Sweetest Day." I hadn't even heard of it until I moved to Ohio where I was "informed" that everyone in the U.S. celebrates it. Try explaining to someone that
A.) if you live in the U.S. and
B.) you don't celebrate it and
C.) no one you know celebrates it that
D.) there's no possible way that "everyone in the U.S." celebrates it.

The last thing we need as a society is another Valentine's Day. My fiance and I don't really celebrate Valentine's Day and we completely reject Sweetest Day. When asked why, we both respond, "Every day is a celebration of our love." Shuts 'em up every time.

I, too, have a problem with the commercialisation of religious holidays such as Christmas and Easter.
