Questions for the mod - out of curiosity

I was just wondering how much time to you spend online a day to monitor all the posts. This is one of the most active boards I have participated on. How do you keep track of it all?

I personally moderate what I can...

As in I look through the post I am interested in, make sure everything is ok. And scan through new stuff. I don't have all the time in the world though to browse the site, cause I work and moderate another forum as well. Luckily this site is very well behaved.

That's why there are multiple moderators though. Also - there's a moderators section of the forum only we can read, to discuss things as a group (make things as democratic as possible).

they asked...

This was way back during the site's infancy. If you wish to be one I suppose you could ask.

We cat-lovers can get kind of out of hand especially when looking at pics of kittens, you know.

This is going to be a very stupid question but, do you get paid for being a MOD?

No, you don't get paid. You have to love the cause and be willing to take a bit of a hassle on rare occasions. Some people resent being told they have broken a rule, and they get upset, no matter how polite you are. This site is great, but there are some occasions when a post has to be edited or someone has to remind everyone that we can disagree without being disagreeable. I feel honored to be a mod. I try to read every post when I'm online and wait for another mod to appear before I leave.

It's just as important and lots more fun to welcome new people and to share experiences and acquired knowledge with newcomers. I love the way this site is growing, and the fact that we are becoming a cohesive group! :) (((=

Jeanie, I figured you all had to read just about every post. Make sure everyone is following the rules. That would be hard.
