Esophegeal cancer

I am pretty upset. i just found out my uncle has esophegeal cancer. He had cancer of the lymph nodes 7 years ago and had to get that cut out, and was doing fine for so long. He and my aunt and my cousin and his wife had moved down to gulf shores because after that first scare he decided he wanted to live on the beach. Just recently it started getting really hard for him to swallow, they went to subway and he had to take tiny bites to get anything down. They ran a tube and they could not get it down because of the size of the lump. They are going to do some more tests later in the week to let them know their options. I would say this does not look too good. i used to work with a lady whose husband had this and he had the surgery to help it and he died of complications. i hope that this ends up being ok. Please please keep him in your prayers. I just needed to talk about it for a minute. thanks for listening.

I understand how scared you are. My mom went through radiation and chemo for bladder cancer and three months after that it came back She is now doing strong doses of chemo. I'll say a prayer for your uncle. Hang in there.

Cancer is a tough one. My sympathy and prayers go out to you and your family.

I lost my mom to cancer just 6 weeks ago. But, on a happier note, I have a friend who has been in remission from leukemia since childhood, and a friend's mom in remission for several years now. Not to mention a handful of other family members who had prostate cancer, leukemia, ovarian cancer, etc., and they all pulled through!

Keep your chin up and keep us in mind if you ever need to talk or vent. We are all here for you.

Tina

Done!

For others that might see this - if you find yourself suffering a lot of heartburn and/or acid indigestion, GO SEE A DOCTOR. And do it now. I lost a very close friend to this condition, a couple of years ago. He lived on one of the popular, chewable antacids. His physician said that there is a connection. So don't take chances, please.

Peace,
Mike

It was and is tough - and it's going to be. One thing that helps, though, is this saying; my mom had it on a bookmark, and we found it posted on her file cabinet to see every day. I have now ordered copies of it for my entire family, as she wanted.

What Cancer Cannot Do

Cancer is so limited . . .
It cannot cripple Love.
It cannot shatter Hope.
It cannot corrode Faith.
It cannot destroy Peace.
It cannot kill Friendship.
It cannot suppress Memories.
It cannot silence Courage.
It cannot invade the Soul.
It cannot steal eternal Life.
It cannot conquer the Spirit.

And, you know what, this saying goes for every disease and illness. I was thinking of Ianthe when I was typing it b/c she doesn't let her Lupus run her life.
